Before IF I never would have imagined that I’d be at a point where I’m comfortable in my own skin. 2 years ago my husband and I went on vacation to Greece and when we got back I looked at the pictures of me and almost cried. I kept thinking how did I allow myself to get this big and why didn’t someone say something? I was barely wearing a size 12 and was on my way up to a 14. For someone with a smaller frame like mine, I knew I didn’t want to go to a 14. But what to do? I already was jogging 4 miles every day, going to the gym 4-5 times a week, packing 4-5 snack/meals and being incredibly frustrated as my weight continued to climb. So what were my options???

My life changed on October 9th when I listened to a podcast (non-fasting related) and the hosts had their functional family doctor on. She addressed how to lose weight and get fit over 40. As I listened she talked about Intermittent Fasting and Dr Jason Fung. Everything she said resonated with my very soul and I knew (without a shadow of doubt) this was the solution for me. It just made sense! I started IF on October 20, 2018. I sought out every YouTube video regarding IF and searched in FB for IF groups. When I found DDD, I knew I was home. I immediately read the book and embraced the clean fast (which honestly wasn’t that much of a struggle because I don’t drink coffee or tea- so water it was)! It was so straightforward and relatable- Gin could have been right there in my living room. The group was so motivating and encouraging, I knew it was the right fit for me. I started IF in October 2018 and by December 2018 had lost approximately 20 pounds to hit my first goal. Then I decided to go for another 10 pounds. That took much longer but I hit it October 2019...what a great IFversary present! Now I’m a size 2/4 and never would I have imagined I would be that size at this point in my life. I’ve been in maintenance for approximately 14 months and I absolutely love this WOL.
