Miles McPherson is the Senior Pastor of the Rock Church and Academy in San Diego, California. He attended the University of New Haven, where he majored in engineering and was also the university’s first player to achieve All-American honors in football and be drafted into the NFL. Miles played with the San Diego Chargers for four years and after his life spiraled out of control in his second season in the NFL, he gave his heart to the Lord. He graduated from Azusa Pacific School of Theology with a Master of Divinity in 1991, and founded The Rock Church in 2000. His Church currently has five weekly services, where there are more than 14,000 people in attendance. The church also has five campuses throughout SD County and over 200 volunteer-led outreach ministries that donate over $4 million of volunteer service every year. In today’s episode, Lucas speaks with Miles about his new book, “The Third Option: Hope for a Racially divided nation” where he re-defines racism and identifies the cultural influences that shape our attitudes on race.
