Julie Schubert is a New York based, Emmy-Award winning Casting Director. She has casted numerous projects including the hit Netflix shows House of Cards and Daredevil. Other casting credits include Confessions of a Shopaholic, Footloose, Devil Wears Prada, and The Departed.
Schubert, comes from a very special casting legacy - she was trained by Juliet Taylor and Ellen Lewis, proteges of the famed matriarch of casting, (and subject of the 2012 documentary Casting By), Marion Dougherty. After an extensive apprenticeship with Juliet and Ellen, Julie began her career as a Casting Director. Julie is a sought after on-camera audition teachers, and has taught around the USA as well as internationally. She has a keen eye for authenticity and a vital sense of how to shape an audition based on what's on the page and the actor's energy. She is far less interested in the elusive idea of talent, and focuses on what makes each actor and audition interesting.
